The 3rd Caspian Energy Forum took place in Moscow with support of METROPOL Group
METROPOL Group was the official sponsor of The 3rd Caspian
Energy Forum, maintaining the partnership with the event’s
organizing committee which started in 2008. The Group’s assistance
in holding the Forum was marked with an honorable diploma.
The development strategy for the Caspian region, the Caspian
region’s place in international policy, conditions for effective
business cooperation in the Caspian Sea region and an assessment of
the ecological situation in the region: these are just a few of the
issues seriously discussed on March 23 in Moscow at three sessions
of the Caspian Energy Forum, 2010.
The main session of the Forum had a representative pool of
speakers:
• Gerasimova, Nadezhda Vasilevna, vice-president of the State
Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, member of
the Presidium of the United Russia faction;
• Naumov, Stanislav Aleksandrovich, state secretary, deputy
minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation;
• Kakaev, Yagshigeldy, director of the State Agency for
Management and Use of Hydrocarbonic Resources under the aegis of
the President of Turkmenistan;
• Grayfer, Valeriy Isaakovich, chairman of the board of
directors of Lukoil, chairman of the board of directors of Ritek,
co-chairman of the Science and Innovations of the Caspian Sea
council;
• Skidanov Gennadiy Nikolaevich, first vice-president of board
of NGK Itera;
• Martynov, Viktor Georgievich, rector of the Gubkin Russian
State University of Oil and Gas;
• Biniyaz, Ali, a deputy of the majlis (the Islamic
Consultative Assembly) of Iran, head of the economic and energy
study group of the Institute of Political and International
Research of the Foreign Ministry of the Islamic Republic of
Iran;
• Vandoren, Paul, deputy head of the representation of the
European Commission in the Russian Federation.
Also, ambassadors extraordinary and plenipotentiary of foreign
countries in the Russian Federation, representatives of
authorities, science and business from 19 countries, including
Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan, actively
participated in the work of the Forum.
S.N. Garichev, deputy general director of the East Siberian Metals
Corporation, took part in the work of the main session and the
business program of the Forum. Mr Garichev made a report on “The
Application of information and space technologies and formation of
an open information space for the Caspian region” in which he
described the thesis about the necessity of creating a general
information space open for all participants on the basis of the
“open sky” principle well-known in international practice.
Moreover, at the “Ecology of the Caspian Region” session, a report
titled "Project 'Mirs’ on Baikal: experience of ecological
monitoring of deep-water reservoirs. Technical and organizational
provision,” was made by E.S. Tchernyaev, Hero of Russia, the pilot
of the Mir deep-sea submersible and a researcher at the P.P.
Shirshov Institute of Oceanology of the Russian Academy of
Science. Mr Tchernyaev's presentation allowed the session’s
participants assess the experience which has been gained by the
Institute of Oceanology within the framework of the project “’Mirs’
on Baikal”, and to weigh ups its potential advantage for the
solution of ecological problems in the water area of the Caspian
Sea.
