2003
2003 was a dynamic and vigorous year for IFC Metropol business.
marked by a number of significant events:
- IFC Metropol rating among operators of RTS markets was upgraded
to 5th rating with total trading turnover of $517mn.
- IFC Metropol CEO Mikhail Slipenchuk elected to the new Board of
Rostelecom, and re-elected to the Board of OJSC
Ulyanovsk-energo.
- GMG Securities Ltd was renamed - Metropol Securities (UK)
Ltd.
- GMG Securities Ltd receives approval to upgrade to Category C
broker.
- GMG Securities Ltd is approved as a member of the London Stock
Exchange.
- Metropol Managing Company awarded an SEC license to manage
investment, share and private pension funds.
- IFC Metropol wins a tender to provide investment consulting
services to the Moscow Region Ministry of Finance from 2003 to
2005.
- IFC Metropol wins a Moscow City Government tender to
restructure state-run hotels.
- Mikhail Slipenchuk and Boris Yegorov, Head of the Government of
the Republic of Sakha, sign an agreement making IFC Metropol a
participant in the Republic's investment projects.
- IFC Metropol wins Sakha Yakutia privatization tender.
- IFC Metropol begins exchanging Commercial Bank OBIBANK bonds
for Rostelecom shares.
- IFC Metropol's Board founds a new industrial holding, to
include Podolsk Battery Plant, Electroistochnik, and Batteries
Trading Company, thus gaining control of 25% of the Russian battery
market.
- IFC Metropol underwrites an issue of OBIBANK shares traded on
RTS.
- UralSibBank acquires a 19.9% stake in IFC Metropol.
